Hilson Moran CPD explains BREEAM revisions
Following the introduction of revisions to the BREEAM assessment scheme, Hilson Moran has launched a CPD seminar to assist architects in understanding the implications for the design process.
Most notable among these is a fundamental shift in the way credits are awarded for energy and water consumption, with a movement away from Part L as the principal mechanism in favour of Energy Performance Certificates.
Described by the RIBA accreditation panel as an 'excellent and very relevant piece of CPD material', the seminar considers the key factors that need to be taken into account in achieving sustainable, effective and marketable designs under the new rating structure, which now includes the category 'Outstanding'.
The presentation will also highlight how incorporating BREEAM considerations at an early planning and costing stage can avoid costly redesigns further down the line.
As part of the programme, Hilson Moran will review the crossover between BREEAM and Energy Performance Certificates and look at the effects of the introduction of new minimum standards for environmental performance.
