HiLo-PSS to fit out new Selco warehouse

When fitting out top of the range warehouse storage system for Selco Builders Warehouse, Unique Storage awarded the business to HiLo-PSS Group.

The UK's leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of innovative storage solutions, HiLo-PSS was able to provide Unique Storage with the quality products and flexible approach needed to meet the demands created when equipping a modern, self-service warehouse environment.

Located at Hanger Lane in NW London, the new complex is the twelfth trade-only warehouse to be opened by Selco Builders Warehouse, a division of Grafton Group plc.

The 40,000 square foot outlet combines traditional merchanting with the latest merchandising and display principles aimed at small to medium sized builders serving the repair, maintenance and improvement sector.

Being a self-selection environment, it was essential that the selected warehouse storage system met stringent health and safety regulations by being SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association) compliant.

It also needed to accommodate a variety of heavy to light duty items such as sheet material, bags of cement, tins of paint and plastic pipe and guttering.

To house this diverse range of products, HiLo-PSS specified its Stronglock adjustable pallet racking which has been utilised to create 650 pallet locations for storage of heavyside products.

HiLo-PSS also supplied heavy-duty galvanised racking as part of the supply contract for use outdoors to store aggregates, paving and fencing materials.

Once Unique Storage had drawn up profile requirements for each product group, the HiLo-PSS Technical Team began work on calculating beam lengths and weight loadings to suit each category.

Unique Storage and PSS worked closely together on the project to ensure that the storage system met the stringent requirements demanded by Selco Builders Warehouse.

Such was the success of the installation at Hanger Lane that two months later HiLo-PSS was chosen by Unique Storage to supply its Stronglock adjustable pallet racking for a mirror image installation for another new Selco Builders Warehouse site in Enfield, Middlesex.

As before, the strong partnership between the two companies enabled the new complex to be completed on schedule and to Selco Builders Warehouse's complete satisfaction.

Designed principally for the storage of palletised goods, PSS Stronglock adjustable pallet racking allows any damaged part of a frame to be replaced without renewing the complete frame.

Stronglock beams are available in a wide range of profiles to meet the load requirements of almost any application.

The patented locking action of the beam to upright provides positive location whilst offering easy adjustments on increments of 75mm and come complete with beam locking keys.
