Hi-Tec Spray has won contracts to help supply one of the world's largest underground water distribution systems being constructed in Libya.

As political and economic relations between Libya and the West continue their rapid thaw after three decades of hostility, a Kent-based company has already won contracts to help supply one of the world's largest underground water distribution systems being constructed in Libya Hi-Tec Spray Ltd of Maidstone is one of the UK's leading surface coatings technology specialists

It services a range of customers including British Airways, the Bank of England, Ford, Glaxo Smith Kline, Pilkington Glass and Jordan Cereals.

The firm also acts as distributor for top international manufacturers of spraying, finishing and pumping equipment, including Graco, Wagner and ITW DeVilbiss.

Hi-Tec Spray has enjoyed tremendous export success in recent years, culminating in a contract with Colonel Gadhafi's Libya to supply equipment spare parts to mix and apply coatings to the outside of spun concrete pipes.

These pipes are being used in the construction of the Great Man Made River project, which will be one of the world's largest underground water supply systems ever constructed.

Hi-Tec Spray managing director Garry Dowling said: 'Like other British exporters, our overseas trade is affected by the continual movement of currency exchange rates.

However customers worldwide have come to rely on Hi-Tec Spray because we can provide the answer to a coatings application problem, when no one else can.' Hi-Tec Spray has supplied and installed equipment across the globe, including: * The Falkland Islands where the company supplied and installed a complete fully enclosed refinishing spray booth.

* Russia where Hi-Tec Spray supplied a range of Graco extrusion pumps for use within a car manufacturing plant.

* Singapore where Hi-Tec Spray developed a one-off machine for automatically mixing and applying a two-pack epoxy to road surfaces which then acts as an anti-skid coating.

* Hi-Tec Spray has developed many specialist two-pack spray applications over the years to apply many types of coatings to a vast range of different products - many of these systems have been supplied to clients in the Middle East for applying coatings to oil and water pipes both internally and externally.

* Hi-Tec Spray has supplied thermo flow hot melt equipment to Syria which has been used for foil wrapping and packaging applications, along with extrusion equipment to India to be used within a printing industry.

* Hi-Tec Spray has designed and built a specialist two-pack spray coating system which was shipped to Sweden and Norway for use on two separate pipe coating industry projects.

Garry Dowling added: 'Along with the above we have exported many standard type pumping and spray application systems to many countries worldwide, some directly to end users and some via UK and European-based export houses.'.
