Surface coatings technology specialist Hi-Tec Spray has won a GBP102k contract with Decoma Sybex Exterior Systems UK.

Kent-based surface coatings technology specialist Hi-Tec Spray has won a GBP102,000 contract with Decoma Sybex Exterior Systems UK, part of the Decoma International group, which designs, engineers and manufactures automotive components from bumpers to body panels Hi-Tec Spray has supplied and installed a paint kitchen and store at Decoma's Banbury, Oxfordshire site, which specialises in coatings for internal and external car components

Hi-Tec Spray has moved the Banbury factory's paint supply equipment and connected it to existing pipework to distribute paint to the production line for use on bumpers and other automotive components for a number of leading car manufacturers.

The paint kitchen is air-conditioned, enabling Decoma to control the environment and keep the coating at precisely the right temperature, resulting in greatly improved gloss levels and quality of finish.

Once the coating material leaves the paint kitchen, it is circulated around a stainless steel pipework system to a number of spraybooth enclosures which contain both automatic and manual application equipment.

Hi-Tec Spray project engineer Phil Millward said: "To get a good finish it's important to keep the viscosity of the paint stable.

Introducing a temperature-controlled paint kitchen not only aids application but also ensures excellent quality".

Decoma paint process manager Graham Carter said the company turned to Hi-Tec Spray to undertake the installation because of its excellent reputation, proven track record and after-sales support.

He said: "We're very pleased with the work Hi-Tec Spray has done for us at the Banbury site.

It's allowed us to ensure that the material we use is conditioned correctly before being applied, which ultimately means our customers get a better quality of finish.

We were also impressed by the fact that Hi-Tec Spray carried out much of the installation work out-of-hours, enabling us to continue production in the factory with very little interruption to our busy coating processes".

Hi-Tec Spray supplies pumping, coating and fluid handling machinery from its national network of sales, hire and service depots covering the North West, Midlands, South West, South, South East, East Anglia and South London.

The firm distributes equipment for top international manufacturers including Graco, Wagner, ITW DeVilbiss, ITW Binks, Kremlin, Sames, Iwata and Sagola.
