Plastics in conjunction with Pilkington energiKare energy efficient glazing.

Seven timber windows have been replaced by 'A' rated PVC windows in a three-bedroom semi-detached bungalow in Billingham.

H Jarvis Managing Director Dave Glendinning said: "The role that thermally efficient windows play in the overall energy efficiency of a home is significant".

"'A' rated windows will help housebuilders and property developers to achieve the Government's target for zero carbon homes by 2016".

"In the meantime, this project shows how it is important to consider energy efficiency in the replacement window market too".

David Stoker, Commercial Director, Pilkington, said: "Pilkington energiKare is much more than an IGU.

It is an opportunity for window companies who partner with us to add value to their windows and make use of the backing of a recognised brand from Pilkington, with the added benefit of a full and comprehensive marketing campaign - complete with television and radio advertising".

"We're thrilled to see the first 'A' rated window incorporating Pilkington energiKare has now been installed".

Installing windows incorporating Pilkington energiKar is an ideal way to improve the energy efficiency of both new and existing homes.

The system benefits from the use of Pilkington Optiwhite low iron glass in the front pane, which has higher solar gain than conventional float glass and hence enables homes to benefit from free heat from the sun.

Windows incorporating Pilkington energiKare can reduce the amount of heat lost from a home by up to 90 per cent and cut fuel bills by an average of around GBP80-GBP100 each year.
