Householders can now enjoy the benefits of an automatic garage door even if their garage is not connected to the mains, thanks to a practical solution from garage door specialist Hormann.

The new ProMatic Akku is an accumulator-powered operator which can supply the power required to open and close a garage door for up to 40 days, based on an average of four door cycles per day.

The accumulator is housed in a portable box, making it easy to transport.

When it runs low it can simply be charged-up and it is ready to use again for another 40 days.

Managing director for Hormann UK, Richard Warom says: "The ProMatic Akku overcomes the problem of having to lay an expensive mains connection to a garage or block of garages, particularly if they are located some distance away from the house.

"Extra peace of mind is provided for parents, as an automatic cut-out will stop the door should in the case of any obstructions, including children!".

Horman's new operator also features an integral garage light that will illuminate the garage for 30 seconds, so that owners are not left in the dark after the door closes.

An automatic door latching in the operator boom protects the door from being levered open.

As this is a mechanical device, it is guaranteed to function in the event of a power failure.
