Thorp Precast are producing the balconies, which will total some 33 in number and be up to 7 metres long and weigh up to 3,500 kg.
Different capacities of HIT are being used to suit the various loading conditions, where fire escape stairways and other walkways adjoin continuous balconies.
The balcony specifications also call for Halfen dowel restraint fixings to be provided so that shear connection between adjacent units can be achieved on site, whilst Halfen stainless steel channel is being cast into the units for the simple post fixing of handrails without the need for drilling.
