Halfen Powerclick and pipework
installation

Halfen Powerclick makes pipework installation quicker and more economic for Atlas Copco Energas

Since switching from conventional welded structural steelwork to Halfen's Powerclick 63 system, the heavy-duty 'big brother' to conventional strut framing systems, Atlas Copco Energas, one of the world's leading suppliers of compressors and generators, has achieved considerable savings in time and money in the assembly of their machinery Atlas Copco Energas has head office and production facilities for its Gas and Process Division at Koln-Surth in Germany

The site has some 18,000 m2 of factory space devoted to the manufacture of single- and multi-stage compressors for use throughout the world.

Modular assembly in the packaging division (pipework and electrical installation) has been greatly simplified by Halfen's new Powerclick system.

Previously installing the complex pipework of powerful machines was an expensive business.

Conventional welded steel construction involved brackets being first tailored to the specific requirements of each machine then removed in order to apply the corrosion protection coating.

Only then was the final installation carried out.

Working in this way was time-consuming and expensive, particularly when panels had to be modified.

Always seeking ways to optimise production, Energas decided to test the Powerclick system for its pipework installation.

Comprising a minimum of components that are all available ex-stock, Powerclick's flexibility comes from a box-section channel that incorporates a toothed channel, giving great torsional strength and safe load distribution.

The channel, which is assembled by means of connectors, accepts rapid assembly captive bolts for the fixing of pipe clamps and other accessories.

The components are supplied pre-assembled to make the construction of framing simple and easy.

The test proved very successful and Powerclick is now used for almost all the supports and panels of the compressors and generators.

Components, supplied hot-dip galvanised and requiring no further corrosion protection, are held in Energas's store ready for use.

Most of the company's production is tailored to specific requirements so that pipe runs can vary and this is where Powerclick is particularly effective.

Because the system can be so easily adapted to meet requirements, the company no longer needs to produce detailed drawings for supports and panels, resulting in significant savings in time.

In addition, the company is also able to overcome the problem of inflexible welded structures occasionally not fitting porperly into the complex, closed compressor assemblies and requiring expensive alterations.

Powerclick's quick assembly bolts now enable all pipework and cable channels to be precisely positioned before final tightening takes place. Request a free brochure from Halfen ...
