An imaginative new mixed use development in East London is making full use of Straightaway sliding door gear manufactured by Hillaldam Coburn, granting homebuyers genuine flexibility in their occupation.
The 86 Live/Work units within the new build property known as the Hallings Wharf have been developed on a brownfield site close by the district's Jubilee Line underground station by Hollybrook Limited.
Selling for prices in excess of £250K, the apartments all feature sliding partitions as a key part of their adaptable layout.
The Project Manager for Hollybrook Ltd, comments: "These apartments have been developed with planning permission either for residential occupation or as live work units where the people such as architects, computer programmers or other professionals work from home.
Typically the units offer two bedrooms plus a lounge/dining room and an open plan kitchen; with the sliding partitions creating the flexibility of use.
Occupants can define the space so that they have one bed with a lounge and dining room, or two beds and a lounge but no dining room, keeping the other room as an office.
"I had known Hillaldam Coburn as the specialists in this field from years ago and contacted the company through our architectural ironmonger, Annstar Ltd.
Hillaldam Coburn confirmed their Straightaway tracks could take any of the weights we wanted to hang on them and the new arrangement has worked extremely well." In fitting out the 86 apartments Hollybrook Ltd has actually used more than five kilometres of track, installing laminate faced composite partitions that slide back to open up or close off areas of the interior with the minimum of effort.
