Plastic Piling Reaches New Heights

A H L Plastics product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Dec 1, 2004

With the price of steel rapidly on the increase HL Plastic Piling, manufactured from 100% recycled PVC, represents both a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative.

Standing on the banks of the River Nene in Northamptonshire, the Heygate Flour Mill was prone to flooding during spells of wet weather.

B and J Shears Builders resolved the problem by installing 48 sheets of HL plastic piling.

Using 3.5 metre lengths, the completed installation is currently the highest retaining wall constructed using plastic piling and creates an ideal flood defence and bank retention system.

Installed in a trench at the foot of the riverbank, the piles were tied back into the bank and back filled to further secure the installation thus reclaiming the land eroded by high water levels.

With the price of steel rapidly on the increase HL Plastic Piling, manufactured from 100% recycled PVC, represents both a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative for a variety of applications.
