HMG Paints sponsors fluorescent room installation

A HMG Paints product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 17, 2010

HMG Paints has provided support for students creating a fluorescent yellow interior as part of the Market Estate Project one day exhibition.

The Market Estate Project features 75 community artists, leading up to the demolition of a notorious London estate.

The young artistic partnership of Jessica Blandford and Joe Morris recreated a 1960's living room and painted everything inside fluorescent yellow; walls, floor, chairs, fixtures and fittings.

HMG Paints was happy to support the Camberwell College of Arts graduates, when they sought sponsorship-in-kind for their proposed Market Estate installation, Fluorescent Yellow Room.

As a manufacturer normally concerned with supplying high performance coatings for industrial, commercial transport, construction and electronics applications, the family-owned firm is always fascinated by more creative use of its materials.

On a technical note, HMG's LMP waterborne acrylic coating supplied for the art work was ideal for applying in the confined spaces of a tenement flat, due to the absence of solvent fumes.

It can be applied to a wide variety of substrates.

The paint was supplied through the newly-opened HMG London depot in Juliet Way, Purfleet, Essex.
