As Jonathan confirmed: "We are one of the only boutique construction practices of any significant size outside the London area and one of only a handful in the UK generally, providing such a specialist service".
"We're giving contractors and sub-contractors a choice; they no longer have to go to large city centre practices for this type of advice".
"This is reflected in our client base which is blue-chip PLC as well as large privately owned or family businesses".
Hawkswell Kilvington provides a selection of legal services and solutions to the engineering and construction industry, including adjudication, negotiation and drafting of contracts, mediation, conciliation, arbitration and litigation.
Issues the firm is commonly consulted on include contract interpretation, loss and expense, delay analysis, payment and interim and final accounts, professional negligence, defects and retention.
Clients are based all over the UK.
Since start-up, the firm has grown to its present twelve-strong team of solicitors and support staff, with all partners being very much hands-on in the business.
In addition to Jonathan Hawkswell and David Kilvington, the third partner is Barry Goodall.
The Yorkshire Lawyer award is the first such award for the firm.
Judged by nine of the Yorkshire region's most eminent legal eagles, the awards are in their seventh year, and have become firmly established as Yorkshire's premier legal event.
David Kilvington sums up: "We are all delighted with this acknowledgement from our peers, particularly as it's a reflection of the hard work everyone at the firm has put in".
"Our approach means that clients have regular and easy access to partner-level advice and this differentiates us from many other practices".
The firm regularly hosts seminars and workshops to keep clients updated on legal developments and to provide helpful practical insights into handling a wide range of construction law related issues.
