Installation Child's Play For Luxalon
Oxford's prestigious new children's hospital, the John Radcliffe Hospital, will incorporate the Luxalon HP+ Sandwich Wall system from Hunter Douglas Construction Elements.
This includes the fascias, sloping soffits and walls, and a unique entrance pod created using cranked and curved panels with square ends, an unrivalled feature that other facade systems were unable to achieve.
Given the final manufacturing use of the building, Rolls Royce required very strict standards with regard to how the facade performs thermally, acoustically and in a fire situation.
Hunter Douglas Construction Elements assisted the project architect in designing a suitable fa?ade using Luxalon Bi-Modular Sandwich Wall which exceeded their requirements in all these areas.
The solution comprised a 60mm thick aluminium faced mineral wool cored panel, air cavity and another 25mm non-combustible Rockwool mineral wool insulant in conjunction with British Gypsum Duplex wallboard.
This not only delivers a low U-value of 0.29w/m2K, but ensures the tough requirements of Rolls Royce's insurers are met in terms of fire performance.
Luxalon Sandwich Wall is an optically flat, thermally broken integrated cladding and glazing system which is insulated, front sealed and drained.
In addition to the excellent aesthetic effects achievable through its concealed patented fixing system and panel lengths of up to 12m, the Bi-Modular Sandwich Wall system is horizontally installed easily and from the top down.
