Oxford's prestigious new children's hospital, the John Radcliffe Hospital, will incorporate the Luxalon HP+ Sandwich Wall system from Hunter Douglas Construction Elements.

Hospital standards and installation proved child's play for Luxalon.

Chosen by architects to create the contemporary multi-coloured facade of projecting architectural features, Oxford's prestigious new children's hospital, the John Radcliffe Hospital, will incorporate the Luxalon HP+ Sandwich Wall system from Hunter Douglas Construction Elements.

The project will involve the installation of 2,100m2 of the Luxalon HP+ Sandwich Wall cladding in a variety of colours, and in particular unique sizes to suit the architect's requirements - this includes factory produced cranked corner panels and various special modular panel widths.

Two blue colours will make up the building's main elevations with small quantities of pastel yellow and green panels making up projecting feature window pods.

Luxalon HP+ is the latest development of the proven Sandwich Wall fa?ade system, which is an extremely flat metal skinned panel with either a foam or high density mineral wool core.

Offering an uncomplicated solution to the tough thermal requirements of Building Regulations Part L2 or Technical Standards J, the system has been successfully tested by The Centre for Window and Cladding Technology (CWCT) and meets the fire performance requirements of the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB).

The new £135 million building designed by RTKL Architects will incorporate a new children's hospital and accommodation for services including neurosciences and specialist services.

It will be constructed under the government's Private Finance Initiative by Carillion Building Special Projects, with the facilities managed by Carillion Services.

Installation of the HP+ Sandwich Wall system will be completed by Luxalon Approved Contractor Siac Facades Limited.
