Hunter Douglas new sales structure in Ireland

Facade systems specialist Hunter Douglas has appointed Ussher Patton to head its restructured sales division in Ireland.

It follows the recent decision by Hunter Douglas to end its supplier partnership agreement with Irish construction agent Engineering Research Limited (ERL).

The move is designed to provide Hunter Douglas customers throughout Ireland with a more direct and consistent communication channel with the company's headquarters in Staffordshire.

Ussher, a Business Studies graduate, has spent the last seven years as area sales manager in Ireland for EDM Spanwall , where he was generating sales of more than GBP1m per annum as well as being involved in the development of rainscreen systems.

Starting his career as a civil engineer, Ussher has also worked for Solaglas, in Belfast, Springvale EPS , Kennedy and Donkin consulting engineers and the engineering branch of the Northern Ireland Civil Service.

Andrew Lee, general manager of Hunter Douglas Facade Systems, said: "My decision to restructure the way we handle sales and customer support in Ireland is partly a reflection on the new corporate approach by Hunter Douglas worldwide to improve synergy across its many operations.

This generally means limiting our reliance on third-party supplier agencies.

"The fact that I've succeeded in appointing someone of Ussher's calibre and technical knowledge is an added bonus for us and our customers".

Specifiers and customers will now have direct access through Ussher to the full Hunter Douglas sales and support structure, for all technical and sales enquiries.

"Hunter Douglas Facade Systems is seeing some rapid growth in the Irish market, and we need to ensure that our customers in Ireland are benefiting from the same sales support and technical advice that we provide elsewhere," said Mr Lee.

Ussher, who attended the University of Ulster, said: "Hunter Douglas is leading the world in terms of manufactured quality, design and technical expertise in all aspects of facade and sun control systems.
