Hoerbiger-Origa interactive catalogue.
Hoerbiger-Origa increases revenues, sales leads with 3D PartStream.NET-powered interactive catalogue.
Global automation system provider HOERBIGER-ORIGA Corp has grown revenues, reduced printing costs by 75 percent, and cut at least two days out of customers' part searches and configuration times with an interactive online catalog powered by SolidWorks Corporation's 3D PartStream.NET service.
The company is also accelerating its own product development by using SolidWorks 3D mechanical design and COSMOS design analysis software.
A U.S.subsidiary of Germany-based HOERBIGER-ORIGA , HOERBIGER-ORIGA Corp.provides compressors, drives, cylinders, linear actuators, and other devices to help manufacturers automate their product assembly lines.
Its customers include Procter and Gamble, Prevost Bus Companies, and ABB.
The company chose 3D PartStream.NET to help grow sales and bring its Web catalog to life.
"Our customers need quick access to part information," said HOERBIGER-ORIGA Vice President of Operations and Engineering Larry Huetsch.
"Rather than calling a service representative, then transferring to tech support, and ultimately talking to an engineer, they now need only go to the Web site, configure a model, and download it into their design to check form and fit".
"Once customers access our online content and see how easy it is to use, they buy our products." 3D PartStream.NET's flexibility allowed HOERBIGER-ORIGA to tailor its Web catalog to generate special part numbers for every custom-configured component, which improves order tracking and billing.
Since deploying the new interactive catalog a year ago, the U.S.
operation has grown the number of sales leads and revenues and reduced its paper catalog production and costs by 75 percent.
For customers, the online catalog has cut their product searches from two days to a couple of minutes, so they can deliver products to market faster.
HOERBIGER-ORIGA components are available to CAD users around the world on SolidWorks' 3D ContentCentralSM (www.3dcontentcentral.com) service, which provides an online directory of downloadable 3D CAD models.
3D ContentCentral is instantly available to more than 400,000 SolidWorks users worldwide via a link within the SolidWorks 3D mechanical design software window.
Streamlined product development.
HOERBIGER-ORIGA had been using a patchwork of different CAD systems, and wanted to consolidate new product design onto one platform that delivered the design power and affordability to accommodate both engineers and management.
The company standardized on SolidWorks for all new product design.
"We polled our customers and looked at affordability, functionality, and the direction of the industry and chose SolidWorks," said Huetsch.
"We thought the industry was heading toward SolidWorks".
"It turns out we were right." SolidWorks allows HOERBIGER-ORIGA engineers to quickly turn new drive and automation system concepts into 3D models that they can test for performance and durability with COSMOSWorks design analysis and COSMOSMotion' analysis software.
For example, they can determine whether a new piston will flex under normal operation in an assembly plant".
"In the highly competitive automation systems market, HOERBIGER-ORIGA must make its product information as easily accessible to customers as possible," said Bob Noftle, general manager of 3D content solutions at SolidWorks Corporation".
"3D PartStream.NET gives the company the tools to create a dynamic online storefront where customers can configure the parts they need for their specific applications, almost as if they were talking directly to an engineer".
"Using SolidWorks and COSMOS software ensures the company continues to quickly innovate new, dependable automation solutions for its customers." HOERBIGER-ORIGA works with authorized SolidWorks reseller FISHER/UNITECH for ongoing software training, implementation, and support.
