Honeywell's frost protection for central heating

A Honeywell Control Systems product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jan 11, 2010

The Honeywell Frost Protection Kit provides automatic frost protection for central heating boilers and pipework situated in areas at risk of freezing.

The Honeywell Frost Protection Kit comprises a frost thermostat and a low limit pipe thermostat.

The kit is boxed complete with installation instructions.

The frost thermostat is mounted on the wall of the coldest room, guarding exposed boilers and any pipework not protected by heating, such as boiler rooms, attics and garages.

The pipe thermostat, connected to the frost thermostat, is fixed on the boiler return pipe to prevent overheating.

If the kit is installed in a garage to protect the boiler, it may be necessary to install additional frost thermostats in the property itself to ensure complete protection.

Alternatively, installers can install a programmable room thermostat such as the Honeywell CM900, available in a wireless version.

This adjusts temperatures automatically during the day, maintaining comfort levels while saving fuel, and can set a minimum temperature overnight to prevent freezing.
