A new prison in Scotland has been fitted with Honeywell Kombi-4 throttle valves to ensure immediate domestic hot water from all outlets.

Two Honeywell SV300 fast-acting safety valves have also been installed to prevent overpressure in the booster cold water system.

The Kombi-4 valves were selected as an economical way to provide automatic hot water balancing, being installed in the returns of the constant hot water systems.

The thermal disinfection feature is invaluable during anti-legionella procedures, when water above 70 degrees is flushed through the system for thermal disinfection; the Kombi-4 valves automatically open further to ensure hot water is rapidly distributed in all risers and pipelines, whilst maintaining the balance.

The valves return automatically to their usual control state when the water temperature falls to normal.

The Kombi-4 throttle valve is small, costs less than other auto-balancing systems, and is easily fitted using DN15-DN40 internal or external threads.

Its optional drainage adaptor provides convenient system drainage.

The Honeywell SV300 is a quick relief safety valve controlled by the medium flowing through it, via a pilot valve.

It protects downstream parts of a system which are at risk from unacceptable excess pressure.

It is supplied in sizes from DN50-DN450, with PN16 flanges.
