H20 Networks cut congestion using sewerage system

Sewerage system is providing an environmentally friendly way for organisations to set up their own IT and telecom networks.

The sewerage system is providing an environmentally friendly way for organisations to set up their own IT and telecom networks.

H2O Networks has developed a revolutionary new system that provides fibre optic cables to be laid through the sewers without digging up the roads.

With increasing business demands for modern methods of communication capability and convergence including the Internet, email, VoiP and larger IT capacity, organisations need greater bandwidth which fibre optics provide.

H2O's Focus System is a fast and cost effective way to lay cable and allows multi-site organisations to install networks without the need to dig.

Digging up roads for laying pipe and cable impacts on the environment and happens more than four million times a year at a cost of GBP1 billion.

Plus a further GBP4 billion is wasted through the delays and inconvenience caused.

The Focus System allows the cable to be laid in the sewer network and can be installed up to 80 per cent faster than traditional cabling methods.

The network can be operational within weeks rather than months.

Every city and town has ready-made ducts that can be used without causing disruption.

H2O's revolutionary approach not only allows for quick installation is also can provide unlimited bandwidth at a fixed cost.

H2O's scheme is attracting much interest and praise from water boards up and down the country.

Wessex Water Enterprises are just one of the water boards that have signed up to the scheme.

Mike Peacey, commercial manager at Wessex Water Enterprises comments, "We've started the system in Bournemouth which is a town with a lot of industry as well as a lot of architectural heritage".

"Wessex Water Enterprises are actually really excited to be working with H2O Networks as it will allow us to use our assets to the benefit of local industry and the local environment".

Elfed Thomas, managing director at H2O Networks, comments: "There is also the advantage that as the cables lie at depths of up to 5m below the ground, compared with 450mm for conventional cables, it is also far more secure - particularly in disaster recovery situations".

Thomas adds: "The H2O system eliminates the additional connection and fibre charges cable and telecom companies make when extra bandwidth capacity is taken on".

"Our cable has no restriction on bandwidth with the customer firmly in control and the ability to upgrade at any time without additional cost.
