Hoppe (UK), one of the leading suppliers of door and window hardware, was recently a sponsor of the renovation of The Menagerie, a replica of the original at the Palace of Versailles.

Set in the 'Capability' Brown landscaped Coombe Abbey Park in Coventry, the 250 year old building is to be the centre of Channel Five's flagship programme 'Build Yourself a New Life in the Country'.

Hoppe donated much needed hardware including sash locks, door locks, handles and casement window furniture, all of which were in keeping with the character of the building.

The programme will follow Jane Kinnaird, housewife and mother, who bought the property from Coventry City Council, as she moves through the stages of renovation to final completion.

Not an easy task, as Jane explains: "The building was in a real mess when we took it on".

"From deathwatch beetle infestations that ate through a two tonne supporting beam to fires that destroyed the entire central staircase, The Menagerie has suffered".

"But once we had restored a lot of the structural elements the buildings character started to shine through".

"To compliment the rejuvenated charm of The Menagerie we wanted to put in the best hardware possible and our experienced carpenter told us that was Hoppe".

Jane continues: "The hardware looks great now that it's installed, it helps recreate what must have been a sumptuous interior in its day.".
