Howarth Timber have joined the BWF Approved Fire Door Centre Initiative.

The following branches of Howarth Timber and Building Supplies have recently acquired BWF Approved Fire Door Centre status: - Richmond, Malton York, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Barnsley, Wakefield, Leeds, Blackburn, Burnley, Bury, Grimsby, Derby, Corby and London The BWF Approved Fire Door Centre scheme was developed to identify outlets that the BWF would be confident to recommend because they are able to supply compatible BWF CERTIFIRE Fire Door and Doorset manufacturers approved products (and not bring this original scheme into disrepute)

The aim of the Centre Scheme is to establish a network of approved merchants/distributors who offer third party certificated fire doors, doorsets and components that comply with the manufacturers recommendations and where staff are trained to give good advice in line with current legislation.

The Centre Scheme encourages builders, contractors and installers to fit the correct and compatible fire doors and components in compliance with Approved Document B of the building regulations.

Dedicated to offering the correct products to all their customers, Howarth Timber and Building Supplies felt that as members of the Scheme they would be offering confidence to their customers in this complex area, enhancing the service they already offer.

49 employees from the 15 approved branches have completed training in compliance with the Scheme.

This in-branch service means they and are now available to offer their knowledge and advice on the Fire Doors and components stocked within the branches along with help in understanding how to comply with building regulations.

The employees will undergo a refresher course every two years to ensure they are up to date with all the information involved in this important subject.

All products offered within the branches are from manufactures belonging to the BWF CERTIFIRE Fire Door and Doorset Scheme, and are CERTIFIRE Approved to comply with the rigorous standards set out within this certification.

The remaining 8 branches of Howarth Timber and Building Supplies are looking to become members of the scheme before the end of 2005 if not sooner.

Howarth Timber and Building Supplies is a division of the Howarth Timber Group Ltd, which has been established for over 160 years.

The group, as a whole encompasses 27 separate locations involved in Timber Importing, Timber Engineering, Warehousing and Dock Operations, Merchanting and Timber Windows and Doors.
