Work Begins At Salmon Fields Site
North west-based Hargreaves Developments has this week started work on the first phase of the Salmon Fields Business Village development in Royton, Oldham.
The first phase will consist of twenty-one 1,600 sq ft, two-storey self-contained office units.
With many enquires having already been taken from interested parties looking to relocate into the area, it is expected that the village will be fully occupied on completion.
The units will be available for sale individually or they can be linked to provide flexible floor areas of up to 6,400 sq ft.
Gerry Sweeney, managing director, Hargreaves says: "We aim to create a business village environment with low-density office blocks and attractive landscaping.
Salmon Fields will be a vibrant place to work, helping boost the economic development of the area.
Once complete we expect the Business Village to create the potential for more than 160 permanent jobs." Comments of Councillor Dave Hibbert: Executive Member for Regeneration: After three wasted years the Council is delighted to see real progress being made in regeneration in this town.
The creation from this scheme of 160 high quality jobs emphasises the message of this administration that Oldham means Business".
Comments of Steve Hopley, Principal Development Officer for Oldham Council: "The Council is proud to have been able to work closely with Partnership Projects and Hargreaves Developments to enable the delivery of a high quality business park on Salmon Fields.
"The scheme, which has benefited from assistance from the European Regional Development Fund, has been designed to promote 'knowledge based industry' and should provide the borough with 160 high quality jobs.
The Council looks forward to this scheme being the impetus behind further partnerships increasing the opportunity to bring quality employment in a high quality environment." The work is expected to last for six months with contractors expecting to complete the first phase by the end of the year.
Both the Salmon Fields Business Village and the neighboring Salmon Fields Employment Park boast impressive transport links with the M62, M60 and A627(M) all within close proximity.
Major companies such as Holroyd Meek Limited, Slumberland and Seddon Atkinson all have locations at Salmon Fields.
The area also contains a retail park and is close to a residential area.
The Salmon Fields Business Village is the first of a series of developments that Hargreaves aims to undertake in association with Partnership Projects Ltd, which has pioneered this project type nationwide.
Partnership Projects managing director Andrew Harris added: " We welcome this triple opportunity to achieve an attractive and successful project, to work in partnership with Hargreaves Developments and contribute to the Oldham economy."
