Prismatics Tiles Bring Colour To Treetops
H Johnson Tiles, the UK's largest manufacturer of ceramic tiles, has helped to bring colour into the world of life limited children by providing tiles from its Prismatics range.
H Johnson Tiles, the UK's largest manufacturer of ceramic tiles, has helped to bring colour into the world of life limited children by providing tiles from its Prismatics range to Treetops, a newly opened hospice in Trentham, Stoke on Trent, North Staffordshire, run by The Donna Louise Trust.
In 2002, H Johnson worked with The Donna Louise Trust - a charity which is named after a local child from Stoke-on-Trent who suffered from Cystic Fibrosis - to produce the winning designs for two murals for Treetops following a children's competition organised by the Trust.
The two original childrens' designs were adapted by Alan Lucas, H Johnson's Contract CAD Designer, so that they could be cut by waterjet - the high-pressure, high-precision method of cutting tiles.
The childrens' designs formed two 1.5 metre panels which now grace the entrance area of Treetops.
The 400m2 of H Johnson wall tiles have been used to great effect at Treetops, with contrasting and appropriate colour schemes chosen according to the function of the room, such as calming blues in the Jacuzzi room, yellow tones in the walk-in shower, and reds and yellows in the functional kitchen area.
Glyn Berwick, Chief Executive, The Donna Louise Trust, says: "We are clearly delighted with the support that the hospice has received from H Johnson Tiles.
In particular our two wonderful murals which really bring our main entrance area to life.
And, judging by the comments that we've received from visitors, parents, and most importantly the children, they are very much appreciated and provide a warm and friendly welcome to Treetops." Steve Whitehurst, H Johnson, comments: "H Johnson is extremely pleased to have given support to The Donna Louise Trust.
Treetops provides a vital function to the families of North Staffordshire and South East Cheshire who have children with life limiting illnesses.".
