The walls and floors of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust's new headquarters have made extensive use of tiles from H Johnson Tiles, taking design inspiration from nature and creating both an attractive and functional finish for visitors and staff.

Named the Wolseley Centre, the new facility stands on the banks of the River Trent at Wolseley near Rugeley and comprises a visitor centre, an education and training centre and a conference venue all across one site.

It is located in area of 26 acres and was redeveloped by Derbyshire architects, Faulks, Perry, Culley and Rech, incorporating existing barns and stables into the construction.

For the floors of the reception, visitor centre, loggia and toilets, H Johnson's Himalayas tiles were installed in various shades, including Tibet, Nepal and Kashmir.

These glazed porcelain floor tiles capture the look and strength of natural stone, with subtle changes in appearance and colour replicating limestone, sandstone and slate.

The overall appearance is one of peaceful nature, the ideal image for the new wildlife centre.

For the toilet walls, the Prismatics range in Ocean Blue and Spearmint has created an aesthetically calming environment.

The specification also included Kerastar steptread for the toilet step and Prismatic external angles and coving pieces.

In all, 180m2 of wall tiles and 160m2 of floor tiles were supplied for the development, which was finally completed earlier this year.

One of the first visitors to the site was David Bellamy, Patron of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust who expressed admiration of the effort involved in the project.

This is the Trust's first purpose built headquarters in nearly thirty five years and was necessary due to the increasing staff numbers and the expansion of visitor training and educational facilities.

"The finished result is a testament to the hard work put into the new headquarters," comments Martin Adams, communications manager at the centre.

"The tiles look stunning and we are delighted with our new facilities.
