Fundraising at H and R Johnson Tiles

Colleagues of Daron Hargreaves at Stoke on Trent based H and R Johnson Tiles are busily arranging a series of fundraising events in Daron's memory.
Only days before Christmas their popular workmate Daron died after an unprovoked and vicious attack as he walked home after an evening out with his family.
His death at 32, left his partner and their two young children and the wider family members devastated.
The shocked colleagues wanted to help the family and asked the company to support a year of fundraising activities to be donated to the Trust Fund being established by the family for Daron's young children to support their education as they grow older.
The request was readily agreed to by H and R Johnson and during February nearly GBP2000.00 has been raised for the Fund.
Four colleagues gave up their leisure time to compete in a twenty four hour Pool Marathon played in the company's canteen raising over GBP1000.
The Merchandising Department which prepares the tile display materials for the company held a raffle for St Valentines Day which raised over GBP170.00.
Another very popular fundraiser was the opportunity to win an extra weeks paid holiday.
The holiday scheme funded by the company resulted in over GBP570 being added to the Fund.
H and R Johnson has for several years selected a local charity as its official charity of the year.
Employees raise thousands of pounds through events, dress down days, competitions and raffles culminating in the public Fireworks Extravaganzas that are held on the company's sports field each Autumn.
Head of Personnel, Ann Moult said, "The Company was saddened by the events before Christmas and was pleased to agree to our employees' request for the Trust Fund to be the official H and R Johnson charity for 2007".
"The money raised so far is an indication of the regard everyone had for Daron Hargreaves who had been employed in the manufacturing area for 13 years".
HandR Johnson is based at Tunstall in Stoke on Trent from where it has been producing tiles for over a century.
