Biddulph High School in Stoke-on-Trent now has an entrance area to be proud of thanks to HandR Johnson Tiles .

The sports college extended and refurbished its reception with a new office and display area for its trophies and awards, using ceramics from HandR Johnson's extensive range of floor and wall tiles.

More than 200 metres of Elements Marblelux Baltic Grey Natural and Gothic Black Natural floor tiles were used in a 450x450mm format, with Erevos black skirtings 300x100mm, Kerastar Tactile and the new Kerastar Hermes 300x100mm steptread used as fittings.

The combination gives the area a stunning, distinctive look, offering staff, pupils and visitors a professional welcome to the school.

Headteacher, Stephen Collier, wanted to create a more businesslike and stylish appearance to the area of the school which sees hundreds of visitors pass through each year.

He said: "We wanted a high quality, attractive entrance hall and foyer to demonstrate the professional approach we adopt to all school matters".

"First impressions are very important, our reception sends out a powerful message to parents, pupils and visitors, to the value we place on them and their interaction and input to the school".

"The new entrance has attracted numerous positive comments, with the quality of the flooring often singled out for special praise." David Talbot, Contracts Manager at HandR Johnson , said: "The entrance area at Biddulph High School is a perfect example of the versatility of the Elements range".

"It draws on the natural weathered appearance and textures of naturally occurring rocks, providing architects, interior designers and specifiers alike the opportunity to effortlessly create luxurious designs".

"The ceramics work equally as well in prestigious hotels, receptions and airport concourses, schools and shopping centres".

"We worked closely with the headteacher, to ensure we matched all his requirements and to give the school the professional look he desired." Biddulph High School holds a special sports college status and has more than 850 pupils enrolled from the ages of 13-18.

The new Elements range can be seen in the latest colour brochure.
