Automatic operation of swing and sliding doors can help ensure that buildings comply with the relevant requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

Many products are available from Horton Automatics that offer reliable and economic solutions for easy access to and egress from buildings, as well as trouble-free movement of people within a structure With the deadline for compliance fast approaching for public buildings, many other companies and organisations will also need to ensure that their facilities meet the requirements of the act

As well as local authorities, all areas of retail operation, education establishments, together with hospitals, healthcare and religious premises are included.

Financial, commercial and industrial institutions and organisations will also need to comply, as well as all methods of public transport.

Newly introduced by Horton Automatics is a slimline range of EasySlide door packages combining economy, performance and innovative features.

These are belt driven units with advanced microprocessor control which can accommodate varying traffic patterns, as well as options for safety and security of operation.

Standard door packages up to 2.4 metre wide are available with single slide opening, and up to 4.8 metre width for bi-part operation.

Standard breakout mechanisms can also be included if required.

Automatic operation of both single and double internal swing doors can also be achieved with the 'universal swing' door mechanism.

This is a low energy operator designed for easy installation on new and existing doors up to 68kg in weight.

Both automatic and manual operation can be accommodated, making this an ideal unit for conversion of swing doors into barrier-free entrances.

For heavier doors, the 7000 and 4000 door operators can be supplied The universal operator is fitted within a clear anodised housing, and features a dc motor powered door opening mechanism with spring closure.

The Horton 'Push-N-Go' actuator ensures door operation when pushed, and standard safety features include adjustable speeds together with 'obstruction sensing' and SoftTouch which monitor the door opening and closing movements respectively for obstruction resistance.

The unit can also be configured to operate with various actuation devices including motion sensors, access control systems and even simple push-buttons.
