Support for 'the green industrial revolution'

A Hulley and Kirkwood Consulting Engineers product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 6, 2006

Hulley and Kirkwood announce their membership to the Environmental Industries Commission.

Hulley and Kirkwood are pleased to announce their membership to the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC).

The EIC is an association, consisting of over 290 members, who support the development of the environmental technology and services industry within the UK.

They play an important role when influencing changes to government policy and the future of the industry and have the political power to ensure its members views are incorporated into Government policy.

EIC has had many successes influencing policies and achieving change including; Environment Agency initiatives to improve the enforcement of water pollution laws, lobbying the new Regional Development Agencies to identify the need for support for the environment industry in their 'Regional Strategies', and increases in the level of landfill tax driving demand for waste minimisation, recycling and new waste treatment technologies.

The EIC is also supported by the Prime Minister and other Cabinet Ministers.

Andy Bradley, Director at Hulley and Kirkwood, commented: "Hulley and Kirkwood are always looking at methods which we can adopt to better our performance and delivery to our clients".

"Being an EIC member ensures we are forewarned about key environmental policy developments, something we can pass on to our clients".

"EIC membership compliments our existing 'green engineering' and sustainability program which ensures that the business as a whole manages sustainability issues, along with the aspects of low energy design, into all of our MandE work".

"We look at innovation in terms of considering sustainable systems which are commercially viable and are proven energy efficient schemes".

Whenever appropriate Hulley and Kirkwood adopt a holistic and sustainable engineering design approach which offers best long-term value for clients.

They are pleased to be co-winners of many Design Awards, which have resulted from this approach for projects such as University of Glasgow - Wolfson Institute, Standard Life House in Edinburgh, and Europier Terminal 1 at Heathrow Airport.
