Hulse makes high profile board appointment
John Bird, one of the Midlands' best known and most successful entrepreneurs in the electrical services sector, has joined the board of Hulse (Electrical Contractors) Limited as Contracts Director.
John Bird, one of the Midlands' best known and most successful entrepreneurs in the electrical services sector, has joined the board of Hulse (Electrical Contractors) Limited as Contracts Director.
In this executive role, Bird's first priority is to put in place a second contracts and engineering team which will effectively double the company's capacity, allowing it to respond even more effectively to the fast-growing demand for its services.
Bird joins Hulse Electrical from another large Midlands-based electrical contracting organisation where, as Managing Director, he increased turnover from £15 million to almost £100 million in a little over five years.
"Right from my first meeting with Hulse, I was impressed by the enthusiasm, drive and commitment of the directors and staff," said Bird, "and it soon became clear that the company was already achieving substantial and sustained growth".
" I welcome the opportunity of building on those achievements, and of accelerating company growth with the ultimate objective of establishing Hulse as the Midlands' leading provider of building services." "We're delighted to have John on board," said Executive Chairman, Stephen Hulse, "His wealth of experience and expertise means that he knows all about the opportunities and pitfalls we face as we expand, and so can help us to address these effectively." "Just as important," added Managing Director, Stuart Hulse, "John also shares our commitment to achieving growth through offering a comprehensive package of services, backed by the highest levels of customer service and support".
" In short, we are confident that John's appointment will bring major benefits for the company, and for our customers." A member of the Institute of Management, Bird has worked in the electrical contracting industry for more than 40 years, starting as an apprentice in the 1960s.
His subsequent experience includes managing numerous major projects throughout the UK, before progressing to board level.
Bird takes up his new role just one working day after leaving his previous employment, his move to Hulse being driven by his enthusiasm for working in dynamic organisations that have sound foundations and outstanding growth potential.
Hulse (Electrical Contractors) Limited was founded in April 1985, and the company has grown to achieve a current annual turnover in excess of £10 million.
It offers a comprehensive service, covering all project stages from feasibility studies to final commissioning, and has recently extended its operations to include plumbing and mechanical services.
Project cost control and value for money are key priorities for Hulse, which serves clients in all public and commercial sectors.
