Huntingdon Fusion offers weld purge monitors

A Huntingdon Fusion Techniques product story

The Argweld weld purge monitors manufactured by Huntingdon Fusion Techniques (HFT) in the UK are rapidly becoming an accepted tool during pipe welding operations.

HFT staff have been given access to an exchange of observations by senior engineers involved in the maintenance of power generating plant in South Africa.

"Currently the purging of pipes during the welding process is controlled by guessing the correct amount of gas in a pipe.

To be on the safe side therefore the purging is done longer than necessary just to make sure.

These instruments will also reduce overall welding time because welding can commence once the oxygen level has been reached and would not have to wait extended times to ensure that purging is adequate.

Should there be a problem like gas leakage, there is not a way to determine that there is a problem with the purging gas quality inside the pipe.

This may cause a weld failure.

One large bore weld failure costs in excess of GBP5000 pounds sterling.

Therefore one failure will pay for many of these instruments.

The weld purge monitor is a device that can be used in the welding department on all sites to save time and inert gas.

It will prevent root failures during welding of the X20CrMoV121 material especially on large bore pipes.

A strong case for purchase which resulted in an immediate and significant order being placed for purge monitors from HFT.
