During 2002 BSRIA in association with the HMSA (Hose Manufacturers and Suppliers Association) produced a Code of Practice for service installers relating to Flexible Hoses.
This document was compiled as the first step in building towards and setting standards for the industry and hose user.
This year saw the conclusion of testing at BSRIA on a number of Hydraquip's hoses which were subjected the to 3,000 hours of testing at pressures up to 10 bar and temperatures up to 125C followed by fatigue testing and pressure testing to 20 bar.
This test will be the basis of the recommended standard for hoses used in building services applications.
In addition to our Type BX EPDM hose undergoing this testing and meeting the new standards we are also able to offer a WRAS approved hose which was also submitted to these tests and passed.
Future aims are for a recognised UK and possible European standard for flexible hoses to comply to.
