Hydro sustainable stormwater control and
treatment
In a joint venture with the CPM Group , Hydro International offers Hydro-Brake Flow Control and Downstream Defender as pre-packaged stormwater control and treatment solutions.
HYDRO PACKAGES SUSTAINABLE STORMWATER CONTROL AND TREATMENT In a joint venture with the CPM Group , Hydro International is offering its well known Hydro-Brake Flow Control and Downstream Defender as pre-packaged stormwater control and treatment solutions in 'drop-in' concrete chambers, specifically designed for rapid, simple installation The advantages, operation and installation of the Hydro-Brake Chamber and the Downstream Defender are completely described in a new brochure - Sustainable stormwater control and treatment - together with all required dimensions and sizing information

Solution chosen by Northumbrian Water (NWL) was storage with Hydro International's Hydro-Brake Flow Control to attenuate the discharge into the local sewage treatment works
The joint venture between CPM and Hydro is a collaboration between the UK's market leader in the manufacture and supply of concrete drainage systems and the designer and manufacturer of innovative, minimal maintenance, low power hydrodynamic stormwater and wastewater quantity and quality control solutions.
The Hydro-Brake Flow Control regulates liquid flow by using upstream head to generate a flow-limiting air-filled vortex which ensures a constant maximum flow of water despite a fluctuating head.
The device achieves its maximum design flow at a much lower head than the equivalent orifice plate or other standard control device.

The Stormbloc User Manual which covers topics such as: its place within SUDS schemes, applications and advantages, system design, typical installation methods and maintenance instructions.
A further benefit of the Hydro-Brake design is that it has no moving parts and needs no power, so operating costs are very low.
The opening is between three and six times the size of equivalent flow orifice plates or penstocks, so it is not so prone to blockage; maintenance is therefore minimal.
The Downstream Defender is a packaged hydrodynamic vortex separator system which removes grits and silts, suspended solids, oil and grease from building developments, construction sites and access road washdown or stormwater runoff.
It is ideal for new or for upgrading existing sites, and the resultant water quality generally enables it to be discharged directly to watercourses, eliminating the requirement for lagoons and treatment ponds.
The Downstream Defender comprises a reinforced concrete chamber, fitted with co-polymer polypropylene internal components.
Its high efficiency, minimum headloss, no power requirements, no moving parts and low maintenance are ideal for low environmental impact pollution prevention.
