Hydro-Brake meets strict discharge constraints

By using Hydro-Brake Flow Control Chamber from Hydro International, Grace Homes met very strict stormwater discharge restrictions with a convenient and time saving package system.

For a prestige housing development of 4, 5 and 6 bedroom houses in the picturesque country town of Great Bowden, Leicestershire, local planning required developers Grace Homes to meet with a very strict stormwater discharge restriction of 5 litres/sec.

By installing a 1500mm diameter Hydro-Brake Flow Control Chamber from Hydro International, Grace Homes were able to comply with the restraint with a convenient and time saving package system.

Peter Hutorka, Project Manager of Grace Homes commented: "The planning restraints for this area of countryside near Market Harborough meant that we had to install a modular storage medium system with flow control to attenuate the stormwater run-off from the site".

"The system enables us to use the Hydro Brake Flow Control unit pre assembled in a concrete chamber; we are purchasing more for use on other sites".

The Hydro-Brake Chamber comprises of a Hydro-Brake Vortex Flow control device within a concrete chamber, packaged for Hydro by CPM, to meet standard manhole / drainage dimensions.

This provides a conveniently sized attenuation package to be quickly installed and connected up to standard drainage systems.

In the 2 years since launch, the Hydro-Brake Chamber has proved very popular in building developments, with over 100 now installed.

Further developments to meet customer demand will be available in late 2006, with diameters of up to 2000mm and with an integrated weir wall to provide an emergency overflow during excessively high flow periods.
