'Time and Trust' focus of Ian Williams' presentation at Housing Forum's 2006 South West Conference

Delivering a paper on the key issues facing contractors in the social housing supply chain, Managing Director of Ian Williams, Alan Soper, spoke on four themes at the Housing Forum's 2006 South West Conference Opportunities afforded by partnering arrangements and the different perspective of Registered Social Landlords and providers, were outlined with the conclusion that achievements can be limitless within an environment of mutual trust

On the subject of customer service, Alan Soper stressed that the responsibilities of Housing Associations and contractors in this area are different, and recognition of this is key to getting relationships right.

One theme, and the 'time' part in the title, was asset management, with particular emphasis on the convergence of contracts towards long-term management of stock and risk transfer to the appropriate part of the supply chain.

Resourcing, specifically the importance of ensuring the right skilled labour and target focused managers from the outset of a project, was discussed at length.

The 2006 Housing Forum's South West Regional Conference, chaired by CEO Shelagh Grant, and attended by 80 delegates, represented a broad cross-section of housing sector professionals.

Alan Soper, Managing Director of property services specialists, Ian Williams, was among the panel of guest speakers invited to address the Conference.
