Property specialist Ian Williams, which operates throughout UK, appointed by housing group to refurbish empty homes belonging to one of Future's members, Daventry and District Housing.

Ian Williams has won a two year framework agreement worth in excess of GBP1million with regional housing provider Futures Housing Group, after winning a five way pitch.

It means that Ian Williams' team will help Daventry and District Housing, which has 3,100 homes in and around Daventry, to bring empty homes up to a standard for re-letting in as short a time frame as possible.

Mike Turner, development director at Ian Williams, said: "We are delighted to win this agreement, especially as we were up against some stiff competition".

""There are approximately one million empty homes in the UK and a typical void takes an average of three weeks to refurbish.

If this can be reduced then the impact on waiting lists and social landlord revenues could be very significant.

"This deal means we can work quickly to secure and maintain empty properties in Daventry and district to ensure empty properties can be re-let quickly to help meet local housing need.

"We have a strong track record of delivering the services outlined in this agreement and the long-term approach and range of activity commissioned very much fits with our objectives for the company and intentions for future growth in the midlands"".

"Daventry and District Housing is part of the Futures Housing Group, a leading regional housing provider with more than 8,600 homes in the midlands".

"Kevin Coxon, interim procurement manager at Futures Housing Group, said: "We appointed Ian Williams on the basis of a robust process, which looked at the prices tendered and a number of other key elements to ensure we get best value for money.

Ian Williams scored top marks for both tendered prices and our assessment of their ability to do the job effectively".

""The deal will run for two years initially with an option to extend for a further two years at the end of this period".

Ian Williams started work on the site in mid May.
