Closing The Loop introduces the cases for sustainability and corporate social responsibility, and the need for benchmarks, pointing out that it is currently all achievable.
The main sections of the book cover Social indicators, Environmental indicators, Solutions, Tools and techniques; appendices follow on Planning Policy Guidance Notes and Building Regulations.
The author defines each chapter heading (e.g The community, Health, Air pollution), The building envelope) against its background and what the public want from the subject, and outlines how authorities and regulators are tackling the problem or solution around the world.
Then the sections on Solutions and Tools and techniques demonstrate how the industry and Government can join to effect a better, more sustainable living environment.

Closing the Loop was written with Andrew Hoarsley and Rajat Gupta, and there were contributions by other authors in certain chapters.
