New Almshouses For Old Thanks To Ibstock
Specials
Ibstock provided many different special shaped bricks required for the new Cleaves Almshouses, created as warden-controlled housing for the elderly.
On an infill site in urban Kingston-on-Thames and surrounded by listed buildings, the new Cleaves Almshouses has been created as warden-controlled housing for the elderly by Chris Billson of the architects, RMA Partnership Chris commented: "Ibstock's support in providing and manufacturing the many different special shaped bricks required proved invaluable in the execution and completion of the new development." Step By Step Help Is At Hand With Ibstock
Ibstock has recently launched a new 'Get It Right' guide entitled: 'Steps and Ramps using Clay Bricks and Pavers'.
Ibstock was the only manufacturer who were able to assist, and at a competitive cost." The development was built for the Kingston-on-Thames United Charities Trust, and provides accommodation in four 2 person, one bedroom flats and one 2 person one bedroom house.
This is built within what is apparently a three house terrace in order to match the design of the Victorian building opposite.
The building is finished with traditional materials - including brickwork in Laybrook Parham Red Stock, clay tiling and stone capping to the pediment - yet incorporates the highest energy efficient materials and designs to meet the latest Part L Building Regulations.
As well as heavily insulated roof and walls and low energy lighting, the widows are fully double glazed, despite being constructed as traditional sash windows.
