Step By Step Help Is At Hand With Ibstock
Ibstock has recently launched a new 'Get It Right' guide entitled: 'Steps and Ramps using Clay Bricks and Pavers'.
Ian Allmark, of architect Fallows Gowen Partnership, commented: "We believed the existing 1950's property was out of keeping with the area".
"Our proposal was to replace it with an attractive development, whose architectural style and massing would be more appropriate to the setting of Portland Road and Belgrave Road, and by using quality traditional materials, the character and setting of the area would be preserved and enhanced".
The development comprises seven, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, for private sale by luxury homebuilders, Hillcrest Homes.
The design features ornate and contrasting brickwork using Ibstock's Birtley Beamish Blend and Ravenhead Red Smooth, combined with traditional cavity wall construction, fully insulated to meet L2 Building Regulations.
Other sympathetic detailing includes cast stone cills and lintels, and half-timbered work.
In the garden, the mature trees were preserved, and enhanced with careful additional landscaping.
Ian Allmark continued: "Having worked with Ibstock's local representatives and their technical department in the past, we were pleased to be able to renew the acquaintance and work closely with them to produce the various required details, including inverted corbelled castellations, dentils, three centre arches etc, enabling the brick layers to achieve the desired effect and replicate the details that are intrinsic to the designs and detailing of the existing properties in the area".
