Icopal launches new VCL membranes
brochure.
Guidance on using vapour control layers to reduce air leakage, maximise thermal performance and prevent harmful condensation is now contained in a new brochure from membranes specialist Icopal.
The guide details how high-performance VCLs, specially designed for use in insulated metal sheeted and single-ply membrane roofs and marketed under the Icopal Monarflex brand, can simply and cost-effectively help with these three elements In addition, they can help specifiers and contractors meet the requirements of Part F of the Building Regulations and BS 5250:1989 Code of Practice for the control of condensation in buildings

Monarflex multi-layer VCLs are manufactured from virgin polyethylene with built-in reinforcement grids of HDPE.
Some also feature a layer of aluminium foil for even higher water vapour resistance.
The reinforcement grids give great strength and tear resistance, producing membranes which are stable when laying and during the sheet or spacer fastening process.
They are also thermally stable from -40C to +75C, which ensures they retain their integrity when installed or used in extreme temperatures.
The Monarflex VCL product range ensures they are suitable for a wide variety of roof types and building uses ranging from buildings with low to medium humidity to those with high humidity such as textile plants, swimming pools and leisure centres.
BBA-approved Reflex 275 comes in at the top end, being a five-layer, exceptionally high performance polyester-reinforced polyethylene membrane with aluminium foil for use in high humidity areas.
Monofilament 250 and Monarflex Netofol are both three-layer polyethylene reinforced membranes and for use in areas of low to medium humidity but the former is slightly higher performance and is available in two roll sizes.
As well as the products available, the guide also contains information on accessories, design and installation (including sealing) for metal roofing and cladding and single-ply membrane roofs, and site work. Request a free brochure from Icopal ...
