igus are way ahead of the competition when it comes to conforming to new ATEX regulations.

E-chain material developed for electrostatic discharge applications has conformed to the now mandatory ATEX directive 94/9/EC since June 2002 The explosion-protected igumid Energy Chains are also based on the GC material certified eleven years ago by the PTB (German federal research authorities)

Dynamic Guidance ESD Energy Chains are used for the dynamic guidance of energy conductors such as lines and hoses with defined bending radii and travel parameters.

The non-electrical components allow for the controlled discharge of electrostatic charges, which means they can be applied in potentially explosive atmospheres in accordance with the new EU legislation.

Nothing sprayed but permanently conductible The extensive testing that the igumid ESD material has undergone means that it goes beyond the standard material used in mechanical applications.

Unlike temporarily effective conductive layers or volatile incorporated antistatics, the admixtures used provide a permanent and maintenance free conductive capacity.

One advantage is its resistance against aggressive chemicals and temperatures, as well as its slightly higher rigidity and 15%lower density.

T he material used also means that the ESD Energy Chain has an increased life span.

To avoid confusion and to differ optically from the standard material, ESD Energy Chains are painted with a slate-grey colour equivalent to RAL 7015.

Optimal protection in any design or application In any design or application the ESD Energy Chain guarantees optimal protection against electrostatic loads.

This is particularly important for applications such as automatic placement machines, clean rooms, storage and retrieval units for high-bay warehouses and for poison storerooms, sewage plants and in enamelling lines within the automotive industry.

All igus chain products are available ex stock direct from the manufacturer, and samples for technical evaluation are freely available.

The ATEX certificate for igumid ESD is available upon request. Request free introductory details about products from Igus UK ...
