Ideal Home Show chooses Independent Access Lifts for the Ultimate Eco House.

Ideal Home Show Chooses Independent Access Lifts for the Ultimate Eco House The UK's best loved home show has always been the place to find the latest in home innovation, and this year was no different as the show celebrated its centenary year at Earls Court (14 March to 6 April)

An incredible collection of home inspiration under one roof, the show has been a launch pad for items such as the toaster, the electric kettle and the electric lawnmower.

In 2008 though, the word on everyone's lips is 'sustainability', and the highlight of the show: the Ultimate Eco House.

The stunning eco house is an eye-catching and pragmatic solution to the problems of the future of housing in the face of issues like climate change, diminishing fossil fuels, adapting life styles and changes in building regulations.

Designed by renowned eco architect John Prewer, the innovative house is built with minimal impact on its surroundings whilst making creative use of space to demonstrate the latest developments in eco-architecture.

It also solves the problem of affordability whilst being fully compliant with the code for sustainable homes and renewable energy generation.

Mindful of the needs of those with impaired mobility, the eco house team contacted specialists Independent Access Lifts to provide an Ambassador platform lift to open up access to the Eco Home.

Fully compliant with all criteria for adherence to Disability Discrimination Act stipulations, the Ambassador was the perfect solution as it is self-contained and requires no pit or separate machine room.

Its screw and nut drive mechanism would also provide fast travel for a demanding footfall of up to half a million expected visitors.

"We are very proud to have been able to support this beacon project," said Stephen Coak, Managing Director of Independent Access Lifts.

"We pride ourselves on the diversity and reliability of our product range and the flexibility of our service".

"This installation amply demonstrates our ability to deliver to a challenging specification, a heavy usage demand, and a non-negotiable deadline".

The Independent Access Lift range comprises a total of six platform sizes, travel up to twelve metres and two platform rated load options, as well as numerous optional extras to help ensure that the installation looks and performs precisely according to the brief.

Comprehensive information on the range including data sheets and a brochure request facility is available on the company's website.
