Seek professional support says Interbuild
Following recent story about a builder who took drastic action by demolishing his handiwork after non-payment, Interbuild is calling on tradesmen to seek professional support.
Strebel's UK managing director Derek Thorneycroft said: "I suspect when Interbuild 2006 comes around, that we will be the only commercial boiler manufacturer to show a wood-burning boiler".
""From an environmental point of view, using wood to fuel heating is highly desirable as the trees used for fuel actually convert more carbon dioxide to oxygen as they grow than they produce when they are burned.
"Through recent statements made by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister it is clear that the Government is keen to encourage the use of renewable energy sources in heating".
"We feel in our recently-launched wood-burning boilers in the UK, we have found a very viable solution, but the main battle we face in this country is getting the politicians to make growing trees for fuel an attractive, worthwhile proposition.
"They also need to have the vision to see that it's something that needs to happen on a grand scale to be effective." Derek added that in some parts of Austria there are heating schemes which supply entire towns with heat produced by burning wood pellets manufactured from timber produced in sustainable forests.
"It is possible to use logs in the boiler but humidity is a big factor and using pellets makes it much more predictable and easy to handle," added Derek.
Surrey-based Strebel's wood burning boilers will form a key exhibit on the company's stand at Interbuild - the UK's premier construction trade event. Request a free brochure from Interbuild - The Building Show ...
