His speech outlined the government's construction timeline and investment priorities for dealing with the housing shortage, the risks of reliance on long term public sector investment and private sector funding for affordable and social housing via section 106 framework.

Trevor Beattie, corporate director of strategy at the HCA, joined senior representatives from Kier, Persimmon and Galliford Try in a social housing debate later in the forum programme.

BRE Tomorrow's World, showcasing the latest green technologies, enabled small incubator businesses to pitch new innovations to potential buyers and investors.

Members of the Birmingham BSF procurement team were at Interbuild BSF to judge the best equipment, interior and structural products for schools, which awarded later in the day.

Glassex at Interbuild exhibitors have benefited from the added profile that the event brings.

Interbuild Onsite has also boosted visitor numbers with the major attractions of tools providers like Irwin, Bahco and Worx along the big commercial vehicle brands like Vauxhall and Renault.
