Building acoustics and sustainability
conference

Institute of Acoustics will be holding its Spring Conference entitled "The sound of Sustainability - Going for Gold" at the De Vere University Arms Hotel in Cambridge.

Acoustics plays an important supportive role in enabling the delivery of Sustainability This relationship is key to removing obstacles for the construction industry

Understanding how acoustics fits in, and what is necessary to deliver sustainability will be especially pertinent within the context of the build up to the first "green" Olympics in 2012, and the new Code for Sustainable Homes.

The Institute of Acoustics, the UK's professional body for those working in acoustics, noise and vibration will be holding its Spring Conference entitled "The sound of Sustainability - Going for Gold" from 24-25 April 2007 at the De Vere University Arms Hotel in Cambridge.

The conference this year will discuss building acoustics and sustainability.

What is the conference about?.

Organised by the Building Acoustics Group, the theme of this year's conference will be an in depth look at acoustics and sustainability.

How acoustics plays fits into the delivery of sustainability is a matter that will be explored by acoustics professionals and those outside acoustics to achieve a holistic view.

This relationship is central to removing obstacles for the construction industry, and acoustics has now been recognised as a key element affecting peoples "well-being".

At this two-day conference, the DCLG (Gov) will be able to exclusively present the acoustic element of the awaited Technical Guide that relates to enhanced sound insulation as part of their presentation.

This is not to be missed for those wanted to stay up to date in how acoustics and sustainability are related for homes.

The conference will also be pulling together visionary speakers that will help acousticians, architects, and developers alike to get a handle on what sustainable acoustics means.

Speakers are from a wide mix of organisations including Olympic Bid green advisors WWF, Sustainability Consultants, Environmental Scientists, the newly formed British Council of Schools and many specialists' within the field of acoustics.

This is quite simply a meeting of the minds on how to meet the new challenges presented by tackling global warming, and how to deliver the solutions within this emerging field of "sustainable acoustics".

Who should attend?.

The conference will be of interest to developers, architects, house builders, local government building control officers building, engineering professionals and policy makers wanting to stay ahead of the current approach to tackling Carbon and how this may drive the construction industry in the future.
