The Institute of Acoustics will be holding two workshops on the consultation on proposals for transposition and implementation of the Environmental Noise Directive.
Latest developments in noise research
The latest developments in Noise research will be discussed at a meeting on 24 May organised by the The Institute of Acoustics' Environmental Noise Group in conjunction with DEFRA.
The focus will be on the social benefit from much better "Aural architecture" inside and outside the building of the future.
The meeting will be of interest to planners, architects, those dealing with the built environment and environmental health officers.
Speakers will include Sunand Prasad, RIBA President, Trevor Cox, Professor of Acoustics at the University of Salford, Stefanie Fisher from Burrel Foley Fischer, Steve Tomkins, Haworth Tompkins, Paul Gilleron, Paul Gillieron Acoustic Design, Tim Breadon, Toposonic, and Nigel Woodger, from Arup Acoustics.
Sunand Prasad will open the meeting and leading architects and acousticians will bring their experience together and suggest what buildings of the future should be striving towards.
The meeting will be challenged to provide vision for better sustainable building design, using our aural sense to enhance user well being and performance more positively.
The programme for the day will culminate in a highly focused working session capturing signposts to better aural architecture.
