Since taking delivery of a KMT Waterjet Systems powered waterjet cutting machine, Euro-Floor Design has been able to offer customers a much quicker turnaround for its tile and carpet cutting service, producing intricate floor designs in hours rather than days Based in Chingford, Euro-Floor Design has a reputation that is renowned to be second to none in the trade, cutting and inlaying border designs and logos into linoleum, rubber, carpet, vinyl, entrance matting and safety flooring for a worldwide customer base from retailers, car dealerships, flooring manufacturers, commercial and industrial companies

It was the ability of the waterjet cutting system to be able to cut such a variety of materials rapidly with great accuracy that persuaded the company to move away from more traditional methods of cutting.

The new waterjet cutting is machine manufactured in Finland by Muototera and supplied through Ebor, the UK agents.

Ebor provides a comprehensive range of processing machines for the glass, stone and many other industries.

The company has formed alliances with the world's leading machine manufacturers, including Muototera.

This company has been manufacturing waterjet cutting machines since 1989 with KMT (formerly Ingersoll-Rand) high pressure pumps at the heart of the machines.

Powered by a KMT 50hp pump that produces a continuous operating pressure of 3,800 bar/55,00psi, the waterjet machine has a cutting table of 4metres x 3 metres.

This allows very large logos to be produced in any required flooring, without distortion or damage to the surrounding material.

Prior to purchasing the new machine, Euro-Floor Designs had to laboriously cut designs by hand or use a die press for smaller jobs.

Mr Steve Soulsby, Proprietor of the company, explained the benefits gained by investing in waterjet cutting: "It's incredibly quick and, unlike die pressing, it doesn't require any tooling.

Once the programme is installed it's there forever so if something is needed quickly we can just push a few buttons and get it done immediately.

"It's certainly different to when we had to have full size drawings made and lay them on the floor to work from.

Also, if a customer has a design on disc, we can feed that directly into the machine and produce the necessary design without any further input." The waterjet machine is now in daily use at Euro-Floor Design, the company having quickly become dependent on it for speed and accuracy.

Mr Soulsby continued: "The service from KMT has been fantastic.

Their guy Peter Longman came along and gave us full training on the high pressure equipment.

You really couldn't get a better service.".
