ISU compatible Instarmac

An Instarmac Group product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Feb 3, 2005

AmeyMouchel is ensuring that many of its mobile incident support units (ISUs) are permanently stocked with high performance highway maintenance products, manufactured by Instarmac Group plc.

AmeyMouchel, Managing Agent Contractor for the UK trunk road and motorway network in Highways Agency Area 9, which serves the area in and around the West Midland, is ensuring that many of its mobile incident support units (ISUs) are permanently stocked with high performance highway maintenance products, manufactured by Tamworth based Instarmac Group plc.

AmeyMouchel's role is to manage and maintain the road network in the area, to improve traffic flow by reducing disruption caused by accidents and to minimise delays created by unavoidable repair and improvement work.

As such, it needs to be able to immediately react to any carriageway surfacing, or other problem.

Since the Instarmac products are supplied in small, easy to handle units, making them perfect for use during periods such as public holidays (when hot applied materials are not immediately attainable) the materials are enabling the contractor to deal quickly with emergency pothole repairs, accident and barrier damage.

Many of AmeyMouchel ISUs, therefore, now carry supplies of Ultracrete Instant Road Repair (IRR) in 6mm and 10mm aggregate grades, Ultracrete M60 and Ultracrete QC10 rapid setting and fast curing concrete repair materials.

BBA/HAPAS approved IRR will replace lost volume in potholes and provide a long term cost-effective temporary solution.

It is formulated to be strong enough to immediately withstand the rigours of traffic.

The material will remain in place until a more permanent repair can be undertaken, thus eliminating further 'topping-up' visits by the ISU.

Ultracrete M60 is employed by AmeyMouchel to speedily reinstate street ironwork at temperatures as low as one degree.

The shrinkage compensated cementitious mortar has exceptional bond strength and gains strength rapidly.

Once installed, the road surface can be opened to traffic within as little as 60 minutes.

Versatile Ultracrete QC10, another fast curing, shrinkage compensated cement-based mortar with rapid strength gain properties, is used to repair thick sections of damaged concrete and provides back fill for carriageway ironwork reinstatements.

Instarmac has formulated a number of high performance, durable and time saving highway maintenance solutions and boasts a comprehensive and highly acclaimed product portfolio.
