Final stages of type 2 approval for IRR

An Instarmac Group product story

BBA/HAPAS approved 10mm Ultracrete Instant Road Repair (IRR), Instarmac's proven and respected permanent macadam, is in the final stages of type 2 approval.

BBA/HAPAS approved 10mm Ultracrete Instant Road Repair (IRR), Instarmac's proven and respected permanent macadam, is in the final stages of type 2 approval.

Achieving this enhanced level of use will allow even wider deployment of the product over its current class 3 and 4 carriageways, footpath and cycle track use.

UK highways are categorised into five separate types ranging between Class 4 and Class 0.

The limiting capacity for each of the five surfaces is expressed in 'MSA's, which relate to the 'millions of standard axels' of loading weight, to which the road surface can be subject over a twelve month period.

Type 2 approval now means that when laid in accordance with the provisions of the BBA/HAPAS certificate, IRR will meet the requirements for permanent first time reinstatement of openings in footways, footpaths, cycle tracks and carriageways exposed to between 2.5 million and 10 million standard axles per annum.

Instant Road Repair provides savings in time, waste and manpower by facilitating first time permanent repairs.

Economical, efficient and safe, IRR is formulated to be laid cold and to be strong enough to immediately withstand the rigours of traffic.

In comparison, traditional 'hot patch' repair materials have inherent disadvantages and can cause traffic disruption, whilst other cold-applied macadams often need several costly visits to keep the problem in check.

IRR is just one of a comprehensive products portfolio of durable, high performance and time saving highway maintenance solutions manufactured by Instarmac.

Further information can be obtained from Instarmac on stand number Z5 at 'Traffex', which is scheduled for April 19-21 at the NEC.
