Instarmac Group plc received Best Initiative to Reduce Environmental Impact award at the Tile Association Awards 2008.

As a rapidly growing UK company who has always placed people and sustainability at the forefront of its concerns, environmental matters have never been ignored Instarmac Group plc won great recognition for our environmental policies at the Tile Association Awards 2008, receiving Best Initiative to Reduce Environmental Impact award

Massive investment in working practices, waste management and streamlining of all our environmental policies has led to the new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant and machinery at Tamworth in Staffordshire gaining the fundamental 'Seal of Approval' from the Carbon Trust - approving both plant and equipment for energy efficiency.

Instarmac's new facility enables the company to integrate quality, environmental, health and safety management systems, thus maintaining and developing our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, as well as upgrading our OHSAS 18001 in line with the 2007 revision.

Making a real change: The optimum use of materials and consumables is not a new concept for Instarmac, but it is one that has been implemented successfully, particularly due to the commitment of the entire company personnel.

The efficient use of electricity, water, fuel and other non-renewable resources in our offices and factory has long been standard practice.

Because we review all of our waste streams on a regular basis we are certain to take every opportunity to improve our performance.

As a result we have implemented a number of measures such as intelligent lighting; rain, waste and washout water recycling; printer cartridges, pallet and plastic materials recycling; and we are constantly looking for other ways of decreasing our impact on the environment.

Investing in environmentally friendly products: We work hand in hand with our suppliers to minimise the usage of non-recyclable materials.

We have forged relationships with suppliers who provide us with replacement materials, such as blast furnace slag, pulverised fuel ash and recycled tyres, which are now increasingly used as product components.

We have also taken a step further by introducing environmentally friendly alternatives to some of our well-known products, containing recycled materials, such as glass.

Technology aided results: Recent technologies have enabled us to manage our impact on the environment intelligently and reliably.

Using latest generation EFF1 motors as recommended by the Carbon Trust, variable speed compressors, zero emissions forklift trucks and an Energair control system, ensures our site and equipment make the most of its electricity consumption.

The use of our new generation fleet enables our drivers to always stay in the Green Zone making optimum use of CO2 emissions.

In addition, all of our 20 vehicles are fitted with electric inverters which allow our forklifts to be charged on the move rather than overnight, thus saving time, energy and ensuring a consistent charge.

Instarmac also received a nomination at the award ceremony for our Delivery Guarantee.

With the ever-growing popularity of the ULTRA brand within the UK marketplace, it is increasingly important to uphold a clear-cut logistics structure, to ensure that our quality and excellence in customer service is standardized throughout our systems and procedures.

Customer Satisfaction is a company priority and a set delivery and transportation 'promise' is in place.

Our company is able to quote amazing transport statistics that help uphold our reputation for continually setting new standards throughout the industry:.

* An average delivery time of 1.6 days achieved over the past 12 months.

* A pre-delivery contact service, as all drivers have mobile phones and are fully traceable.

* 99.98% of deliveries made on time and uncompromised.
