ION Glass for Art Deco penthouse in
Mayfair
ION Glass designed and installed frameless shower enclosures, a glass balustrade, coloured glass panels and doors as well as a bespoke mirror.
ION Glass were commissioned by Karin Verzariu, BIDA, director of design company Key Interiors, to supply a range of bespoke glass installations at a penthouse apartment on the Strand in London The brief was to create an Art Deco style apartment incorporating modern frameless glass products, while using shapes and patterns reminiscent of 1930's chic

Alco Beldan have completed an installation at a recently renovated property in North London which used to be the home of the golden couple Lulu and the late Maurice Gibb.
In the main bathroom ION installed the Caspian Shower Enclosure - a circular shower screen reminiscent of the Art Deco era, made from curved glass.
To secure an absolutely perfect fit the shower area was measured on completion of tiling and shower tray installation, even a thin layer of tiles can affect the size of the glass manufactured.
The completely frameless glass screen is set into channels on the walls with minimal glass to glass stainless steel fittings.
The curved glass shower combines contemporary design with 1930's Art Deco style.
Special lighting effects enhance the dome shaped ceiling, which is tiled with indigo glass mosaic.
The project involved the creation of a luxurious steam and shower room.
ION Glass worked with the main contractor, Symm and Company and the design company, Key Interiors, to create a contemporary design with elegant and durable materials.
A frameless glass door was designed to lead into the main steamroom.
The horizontal black and white striped marble wall cladding and white marble worktops were complemented with black glass cabinet doors and glass panels.
Templates were made to ensure the black coloured glass would be manufactured to the precise size required.
The glass panels and doors are tough, heat resistant and easy to clean.
The toughened glass complements this glossy and stylish wetroom and is durable, easy to clean and in keeping with the design brief.
The designer specified a custom made mirror for the elegant Guest Cloakroom and frameless mirrored doors in the Entrance Hall and Master Bathroom.
The cloakroom mirror design incorporates vertical stripes in alternating black and clear mirror.
The final glass installation was this futuristic glass balustrade for the bespoke spiral staircase.
Custom made to suit the client's particular space and design requirements, the staircase was measured by ION's Surveyor to manufacture the glass for a perfect fit.
The result is a stunning design feature to a functional, yet beautiful staircase.
The balustrade installation took two days.
Spotlights enhance the visual impact of the curved glass.
A finishing touch is the hand stitched leather which covers the hand rail.
The glass balustrade is an important addition to the elegant design of the helical staircase in this stylish interior space.
While the property has now been completely refurbished, ION Glass are currently working with Key Interiors to produce architectural glass shelves with integral lighting to display the client's large collection of Art Deco coloured glass.
